Leading edge local authority citizen data hub with SAP MDM
Most council systems have developed organically to support departmental processes. This typically results in departmental systems that each have their own independent customer master data. Harmonised citizen master data is critical to effectively deliver cross-departmental (and cross-council) operating practices.
Enabling a ‘Tell Us Once’ approach
The Customer Data Hub (CDH) is a central record of customer data which is brought together from disparate systems at county and district level to provide a single view of the customer. Customer data is received directly from the Registration Service and also from the CRM and service systems currently linked to the CDH – social care, library service, and North Kesteven District Council. When an update about a customer is received in the CDH it automatically sends this to the systems that have an existing relationship with the customer. When data is sent to partner organisations such as North Kesteven DC it is transferred using GCSX (Government Connect Secure Extranet).
Project Delivery
AgilityWorks and Mouchel completed the Customer Data Hub at Lincolnshire on time and to budget. The Citizen Data Hub was delivered using SAP MDM as the central repository and SAP NetWeaver for the user interface, workflow and systems integration (including integration with external partner organisations).
Benefits
The solution delivered a number of benefits including reducing the number of avoidable contacts, enabling more effective operational processes and systems rationalisation with a total payback of in excess of £2million over 5 years.
“By using the Customer Data Hub to send the changes automatically to all the systems the customer has a relationship with, we save £109,000 a year in front and back office, as well as enhancing the customer experience.” (LCC Registration Service)
